OREGONIAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jackson VanVuren won athlete of the week from the Oregonian.  VanVuren was chosen over twelve other candidates for the week of May 18-24th.  This award is given to the athlete who had the best performance during the week in any sport from any school in the state of Oregon 1A-6A.  Coming off of a "athlete of the year" award in the NWL during districts; Jackson proved a week later he should be considered as one of the top athletes in the state.  Jackson set a new 2A meet record throwing a 201'9 as he captured his third straight state championship in the javelin.  Jackson out threw every competitor at the meet 1A-6A proving he is the best high school javelin thrower in the state.  VanVuren also competed in the long jump finishing in 4th place with a jump of 20'.
