JR HIGH SOCCER ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS

Faith Bible earned a home game in the quarterfinals this year with a 8-3 record in league play. The 4-4-3 Gilkey eagles had played the falcons tough in the regular season, a game which Faith Bible won 3-2.

Today's game began promisingly for the falcons with consistently strong possession on the offensive end. Giovanni Correia was able to break through in the 6th minute for the first of his six goals on the day after receiving a nice ball through the defense off the feet of Jon Morton. After the kickoff, Faith Bible regained possession and Giovanni Correia sent a ball into the middle that was cleared in the air to the foot of Jon Morton. Jon was able to drive the ball into the net with a strong one touch goal from 25 yards out in the 8th minute.
An excellent pass from Samuel Nguyen allowed Liam Wahab to score in the 37th minute and a cross from Giovanni Correia found Ryan Lane, who popped the ball over the opposing keeper in the 46th minute. Johnny Walker starred in goal with 6 saves and was an integral part of the victory.

In the end, the Falcons played their most complete game of the season with great individual efforts as well as excellent vision for one another. Faith earned the right to play in the semifinals on Wednesday the 26th at Forest Hills at 4:00.
