MEET OF CHAMPIONS

Saturday Jordan Wagner went to the Meet of Champions. This is a track meet that is only held for the top athletes in the state from 1A all the way up to 4A. There were nearly 60 schools represented at this meet including one team from California. Just to make it into the meet you have to have already reached a high standard in your event and they only allow the very best in. Jordan was very excited to see how he would compete in the shot against such great competition. Jordan rose to the occasion setting a new PR by a foot which also set a new school record. Jordan threw a 43'11" and placed 9th out of the 20 throwers at the meet. It also moves Jordan up to 5th among all 2A shot throwers in the state. Great job in representing Faith in the Meet of Champions Jordan!!!!

SIDEWAYS RAIN IN A TRACK MEET AT THE COAST

After a two hour drive to the coast for a track meet every team seemed to be reluctant to get off their bus due to strong winds and heavy rain. Vernonia & Portland Christian didn't even stick around after showing up...they just took one look at the track and took off for home. Our kids our competitors and didn't let the weather stop them from competing. In fact Troy Maslen set a school record at the meet by obtaining the best time in school history in the 110 hurdles.

Below is a video that doesn't due the weather justice...but you can see just how wet it was. And then below that is a video of Jordan Wagner in a different meet throwing the shot.

The money raised through the purchase of the images will go towards the schools athletics program.

Friday the baseball team set up to play a doubleheader against Nea-Kah-Nie at Valley Catholic. It was a beautiful day for baseball...unfortunately that beautiful weather only lasted long enough to play one game. It only took one game for the Falcons to set off some fireworks. With a full crowed in the stand the Falcons won 8-5. Kellen Luey hit the first home run in Falcon's history in the 5th inning to break open a 5 run 5th. Jordan Wagner was quick to follow belting a homer in the 6th.

Branden Luey had another strong outing as the starting pitcher picking up his second win of the season. Nate Elder came in for relief and was electric.

The Falcons look to take the field again on Tuesday, 4:30 at Valley Catholic vs Knappa.

BASEBALL HITS WINNING STREAK

Tuesday the baseball team traveled to Neah-Kah-Nie HS where they faced the Pirates at Rockaway Beach. It only took two innings for Neah-Kah-Nie to jump out to a 5-0 lead. But in the third inning the Falcons got their bats rattling scoring 3 to make it a two run game. Russell Walker never allowed another run the rest of the game until he gave up one in the 5th inning. Russell left the game to Nate Elder who only faced 9 batters in three innings, he didn't give up a run and recorded 6 strikeouts. Faith finished the game with a 10-6 victory, their third win in as many games. The Falcons will look to host the Pirates this Friday at Valley Catholic. Games will be played at 3&5pm. Any and all fans are invited to come out and enjoy a game or two!

With spring sports underway it didn't take long for some track & field records to fall.

In the shot Jordan set the school record last year as a JR by throwing 42ft 10in and got 7th overall in the state. In his very first meet of this year he beat his old record by throwing 42ft 11.5in.

Shot is not the only record Jordan has broke this year. He also beat the discuss record for the school that he also set last year at 105ft 10in. In the first meet of this year he set a new school record at 113ft 11in.
Photobucket

Another senior Kelsey Wright also broke a school record that she had previously held from last year. Kelsey shattered her old record of 86ft 1in by throwing 97ft 4in.

Congratulations to Jordan Wagner & Kelsey Wright on new school records. It probably won't be the last time they break records this year!
